We are selling a building in Wheeling. As we have been to the property for showings and inspections, we learned a lot about Wheeling, and would like to share some important facts about the town.
Wheeling is located approximately 23 miles from downtown Chicago. It has access to nearby towns via I-294, Illinois 53 and U.S. 45. There is also commuter rail service to downtown Chicago, with Metra’s North Central Service line providing transportation to Union Station.
One of the village’s top attractions is Restaurant Row, which boasts upscale restaurants and some of the best eateries in the north suburbs along Milwaukee Ave.
Throughout the year, community events bring neighbors together. The Lights around Wheeling marks the start of the holiday season at Friendship Park, while the summertime Anniversary Parade celebrates Wheeling’s 100-plus year history with a parade and concert in the park.
One of the most famous and iconic places in Wheeling is Superdawg. The original Superdawg is in Chicago and has been around since 1948. The Wheeling location opened in 2010. The Wheeling location, located at 333 S. Milwaukee Ave., is a much larger place than the original location. The parking lot has space for 91 cars. The dining room is the parking lot. Complete with car hop service it makes for a unique dining experience. One of the best things about Superdawg, besides the fact they have great Hot Dogs, and Hamburgers too! It’s those 12 foot tall Hot Dogs that are winking and blinking at you.
Those Hot Dog statues are actually named Maurie & Flaurie. They are named after the owners and founders of Superdawg. Today, the children and grandchildren are keeping the traditions and legacy of Superdawg going forward.
