A tornado touched down in DuPage County last night. Naperville and Woodridge were the hardest hit suburbs.
There were dozens of homes that were damaged. Several were completely destroyed.
If you were watching the news today, you saw the video that shows extensive storm damage. There were large trees that were snapped off at the base. Branches and trees covered roads and front yards, as did pieces of drywall, doors, furniture, windows, shingles, and even entire roofs from homes. Signs were knocked over, as were power lines. There were even cars that were tossed over and landed in their neighbor’s property.
With winds over 100MPH, there is extensive damage and power outages. This will take days and in some areas weeks to clean up the mess.
In Chicago, we had a severe thunderstorm last night. The rains and winds were powerful, but it was nothing compared to the damage in the southwest suburbs.
On our way to an appointment we saw tree branches that were in the streets and this stop sign that was tossed onto the sidewalk.
These thunderstorms and tornados are extremely dangerous. If you hear a warning signal on your phone, television or radio you should take shelter immediately.
