The Magnificent Mile

We had an early morning showing at our condominium in the Gold Coast.

It's located on Huron Street, just off Michigan Avenue.

The picture above is of "The Magnificent Mile".

It runs from the Chicago River to Oak Street.

It is lined with upscale stores, restaurants, luxury retailers, office buildings and hotels. It is a world renowned center of retail and dining culture.

There are many famous buildings on Michigan Avenue; such as the John Hancock Building, The Wrigley Building, The Tribune Tower, and Chicago Water Tower Place.

At the north end of Michigan Ave and Chicago Ave., you have the iconic Chicago Water Tower. The buildings were built in 1869. Yes, they are over 152 years old, and survived the Chicago Fire.

They were originally built and used for a pumping station to draw water from Lake Michigan.

Today the Chicago Water Tower serves as a Chicago Office of Tourism, and as a small art gallery, featuring works from local photographers, artists, and filmmakers.
