The Freeze, located at 2815 W. Armitage Ave. in the Logan Square neighborhood is officially closed.
It originally opened in 1950 as a Tastee-Freeze.
The current owner, a retired fireman has owned and operated the business for almost 30 years.
It was a busy place in the summertime. They were serving up lots of soft serve ice cream and shakes. They expanded the menu to include: burgers, hot dogs, beef sandwiches, chili dogs and grilled chicken sandwiches.
Another Ma & Pa shop has closed. We will see what the new owners will do at this location.
