The Blommer Chocolate Company is closing its Chicago factory at the end of May.
The factory is located at 600 W. Kinzie St. It has been running since 1939, and it’s the Blommer’s original manufacturing plant.
The decision to close is due to the increasing costs and repairs required to maintain the building.
Blommer Chocolate will still keep its offices which are located nearby at the Merchandise Mart.
If you have ever been around the West Loop, you probably have smelled the chocolates baking.
With so many office towers and condominiums in the area, it’s certain the site will be redeveloped quickly.
After 85 years, The Blommer Chocolate Company will still be making chocolates just in different states.
