The Demolition of The Chicago Tribune Freedom Center has begun.
This will be the site of the new Bally's Casino and Hotel.
Located at 777 W. Chicago Ave., it was the largest newspaper production facility in The United States.
It opened in 1982, and recently closed in May 2024.
The Tribune paper was printed there, along with other papers like The Chicago Sun-Times and The Chicago Reader.
Demolition crews will be working everyday on this project which could take up to six months to complete.
Last year The Tribune Company purchased The Daily Herald Newspaper and has moved its production facilities to Schaumburg.
